Avon and Somerset Constabulary now have a team of LGB&T (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans) Liaison Officers covering the Force area. LGBT Liaison Officers (sometimes known as LAGLOs) are a mix of police officers and police staff members who have special understanding and training on lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans issues. There are 6 LGBT Liaison Officers covering the Bristol area, and 1 covering each of the following areas; North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset, East Somerset and West Somerset.

The LGB&T Liaison Team provides a service which actively engages with the local LGBT community, encourages individuals to report homophobic and transphobic hate crime and provides an effective and specialist link to improve the LGBT community's trust and confidence in the Police service.  They also work within the organisation to develop ways in which the police can improve its service delivery for the LGB&T communities and provide advice to their colleagues about crime investigations and to people who identify as LGB&T.

LGBT Liaison Officers also visit gay friendly venues frequently to help foster good relations with the community and listen to local concerns.

We will treat any information you give us sensitively and in confidence.

There are a number of ways you can contact your local LGB&T Liaison Officer:
